1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using RemoteShield ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
2. License
RemoteShield grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on computers you own or manage. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or distribute the Software without written permission.
3. Purpose and Limitations
RemoteShield is designed to block known remote access software from running. It is a preventative tool, not a guarantee against all forms of cybercrime. RemoteShield does not replace antivirus software, firewalls, or safe computing practices.
The Software may block legitimate remote access tools that you or your IT provider use. You are responsible for configuring the whitelist for any tools you wish to allow.
4. No Warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. RemoteShield does not guarantee that all scam attempts will be prevented or that the Software will operate without interruption or errors.
5. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL REMOTESHIELD, ITS DEVELOPERS, OR DISTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
6. Updates
RemoteShield may automatically check for and download threat database updates to maintain protection. Application updates require user confirmation before installation. All updates are verified using SHA-256 cryptographic hash checks.
7. Service Operation
RemoteShield runs as a Windows service with automatic startup. It monitors process creation and may terminate processes that match its threat database. The Software modifies Windows Firewall rules when network blocking is enabled and creates a scheduled task for service recovery.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Australia.
9. Changes to Terms
RemoteShield reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
