1. Overview
RemoteShield is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
2. Data We Collect
RemoteShield does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All data remains on your local computer.
The Software stores the following data locally on your computer:
- Log files: Records of blocked processes (executable name, file path, timestamp). Stored in
C:\ProgramData\RemoteShield\.
- Configuration: Your whitelist settings, blocked application preferences, and application settings.
- Threat database: A local copy of the threat definitions used for detection.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, phone number)
- No browsing history or website data
- No keystrokes or screen content
- No telemetry or usage analytics
- No data transmitted to RemoteShield servers or any third party
4. Network Communications
RemoteShield connects to the internet only to check for threat database and application updates. These connections are made to GitHub (github.com) and are secured with HTTPS. Update files are verified using SHA-256 cryptographic hashes before being applied.
No personal data, log files, or usage information is included in these update check requests.
5. Windows Firewall
When network blocking is enabled, RemoteShield creates Windows Firewall rules to block known remote access ports. These rules are clearly labelled and are removed when the feature is disabled or the Software is uninstalled.
6. Data Retention
Log files are automatically rotated when they reach 10MB, with up to 5 backup files retained. You can clear all logs at any time from the Logs tab. During uninstallation, you are given the option to remove all configuration and log data.
7. Third-Party Access
RemoteShield does not share any data with third parties. The Software does not contain advertising, tracking pixels, analytics SDKs, or any form of data collection infrastructure.
8. Children's Privacy
RemoteShield does not knowingly collect any information from children. The Software does not require account creation or any personal information to operate.
9. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information. Since RemoteShield stores no personal data externally, all data management is performed locally on your computer through the application interface.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
